Pastoral areas where the Index-Based Livestock Insurance (IBLI) operational are characterized by very limited level of financial literacy. Conventional methods of outreach in the rural areas have limited the awareness raising program efforts of ILRI’s IBLI team and its commercial partners, insurance companies. Exacerbated by high cost of providing face-to-face training to all pastoralists and insurance promoters, the team developed short and targeted pictorial training approaches. This is a 20 page pictorial that explains the major components of the IBLI program customized with the cultural (dressing style/code) of pastoralists and transcribed in to their own language.
